I have been absorbed with textiles since learning to knit at the aged of four. Around the same time I spent hours drawing and painting 'bride dolls'. My first work placement was in a fine art studio, water colour painting, followed by work in the wardrobe department of the Bristol Old Vic where I made stage costumes.
I have studied City and Guilds in Patchwork and Quilting, Creative Fashion Design, and Felt Making.
I graduated (as mature student) with Honors from university in 2000 after studying Fashion Design Technology. I called it my 'permission to play' period, and this was an enormous learning curve for me in more ways than one. During the past 14 years I have been a tutor at GLOSCAT in Cheltenham teaching City and Guilds in Mixed Media and Water Colours as well as a variety of other art and craft classes.
I now have a full time studio to allow me the time to develop my designs and expand my range of products even further to include felted items such as unique table place settings, baby blankets and more scarves and wraps.
Most of the items I create are made from Merino wool and silk fibres using a variety of felting techniques.
I always welcome commissions and can design and make items in specific colours to match outfits or interiors if required, as all articles are original & individual. Please email or call me with your ideas or requirements.
